Activity description

Stretch your legs on the beautiful Haruru Falls Walking Track before an amazing waterfall kayaking tour starting in Paihia.

This fun filled activity combines a 5 km walk on the Haruru Falls track with a guided kayaking tour leading to the waterfalls. The Haruru Falls track runs alongside the Waitangi Inlet and offers impressive views through the native bush. The track will take you across picturesque bridges and a boardwalk through a beautiful mangrove forest. This walk is unguided and usually takes about 1.5 hours. You can relax and enjoy your time on land before hitting the water!

The next part of the activity kicks off in the kayaks. Starting from the beach base in Paihia, your guide will provide a safety briefing and explanation on how to best use kayaks. You will then begin a two hour journey to the unique horseshoe shaped Haruru Waterfall that will playfully spray you. On the way you will catch sight of the incredible mangrove forest, local wildlife, and surrounding scenery of this beautiful place. Your guide will provide fun entertainment by telling amazing Maori legends and captivating history. Guides can also take photos free of charge. At the end of the tour, you will be transported back to the beach base.
