Experience an exciting day pedaling on Queenstown's Trails, a network of bike lanes that span from Gibbston to Queenstown and the town in the middle.
Parting from your accommodation in the center of Queenstown, your guide will pick up and drive you to Queenstown Bay. There, you'll be provided with thorough directions, a trail map, and navigation tips before setting off on your mountain bike!
You'll then follow the stunning Frankton Track and warm up. At mid-morning, you'll make a stop for coffee. After this quick stop, you'll ride the banks of the Shotover and Kawarau Rivers while experiencing the grand views of the Wakatipu Basin. By then, it'll be time for your second pause, a picnic lunch and a chance to explore historic Arrowtown!
The second part of the day, you'll bike along the beautiful Arrow and Kawarau Rivers to the Historic Kawarau Suspension Bridge, home of the famous Kawarau Bungy jump. The end of the biking trip will be a short ride through the Gibbston Wine Valley and enjoy a relaxing wine tasting before being picked up and driven back to your Queenstown accommodation.
Around the Basin's supported biking trip can be done by any rider and is well supported along the way by your dedicated tour guide. It is important to note that your guide will not be riding the trail with you, but will meet you with the vehicle at frequent support locations along the way, allowing you to hitch a ride if required.
A second option, lasting for only half day is also available. It will begin with a scenic transfer from your Queenstown accommodation to the historic village of Arrowtown. Then, you'll follow the beautiful Arrow River Trail downstream to where it meets the Kawarau River.
Next, you’ll ride across the 2 spectacular suspension bridges and then join the original miner's trail that crosses the famous Kawarau suspension bridge. As in the full day option, you'll end at the Gibbston Wine Valley and enjoy a relaxing wine tasting before being picked up and driven back to your Queenstown accommodation.
