White Water Rafting Excursion on the Otra River in Evje

Starting from Evje, join an action-packed rafting trip on one of Norway’s largest rivers – the Otra – and enjoy a day of fun!

Evje is a municipality in Agder County, situated in Norway. It is located in the Setesdal Valley and is known for its beautiful natural surroundings, including forests, rivers, and mountains. Otra, running through Evje, is the largest river in the Sørlandet region of Norway. With 245 kilometres (152 miles) in length, it’s Norway’s eighth-longest river. It flows from north to south towards Kristiansand on the coast where it finally runs into the ocean.

The adventure begins at the starting point in Evje, where you will meet the certified instructor. You'll start with a safety briefing and instructions for paddling techniques. The instructor will give an overview of your safety equipment before you gear up with a CE-approved life jacket, wet suit, splashproof jacket and helmet. No previous rafting experience is required!

Once everyone is ready, you'll board the raft (a specially made rubber boat) with your group. Following the instructions from the guide, you'll begin paddling down the Otra River! Feel the thrill and excitement of this adventurous sport as you speed down the river rapids. As you navigate the boat along steep dips and fast-flowing water, you'll be surrounded by the stunning natural scenery of Otra. 

The highlight of the trip is Syrtveitsfossen, a waterfall in the area that cascades down a series of rocky steps, creating a picturesque scene amidst the lush green surroundings of the valley. The rapid was previously used for timber floating, and at that time large jetties were built to lead the timber down the wild rapids. This makes this river stretch perfect for rafting! At the end of the excursion, you'll return to the starting point in Evje.
