Activity description
Hiking on the Juklavass Glacier is exciting and challenging but it's also something you should absolutely experience when visiting Norway!
Folgefonni Breførarlag has been offering this amazing glacier hike since they first opened for business in 1994! The Juklavass Glacier is located just 20 km. from Jondal which makes it quite accessible. This way you can have an exciting day glacier hiking and come back to Jondal to relax!
The Blue ice hike on the Juklavass Glacier starts from the Fonna Glacier Ski Resort in Jondal, sitting at 1200 m. To get there, you must follow the 19 km.-asphalt road from the village Jondal as you cross the fiord until arriving at Fonna Glacier Ski Resort. The Juklavass Glacier has various types of ice, which makes it perfect for anyone trying to discover the feeling of walking on a giant block of ice! You can expect to find both calm and flat ice and challenging crevasse areas.
Since the team aims to provide you with a safe and exciting tour, the route will be adapted to your level. In the middle of the blue ice hike, you'll take a break in order to have an awesome view of the North Sea and the Rosendal Alps. As you contemplate the magnificent landscapes, your guide will explain the culture and geography. Then, once you've regained your strength, you'll walk back with the fjord and mountains below.
