Activity description

You feel like a fish in the water, some might say you can already breath under water? It's time to take a step forward with the AIDA 2 course!

Freediving Planet's team offers a AIDA 2 Freediver course which is focused on confident snorkelers or swimmers who want to learn all the basic theory and techniques of freediving.

According to the students who have trained with these pros, this is probably the most challenging and rewarding AIDA course.

If you are already very confident in open water, then this is the course you must take! The program builds a foundation over correct technique and huge amounts of safety so that you can freedive independently with your other AIDA 2 freediver buddies.

AIDA 2 course

Become and independent freediver who can dive autonomously while completing your AIDA 2 certification always guided and safely accompanied by a certified instructor.

After meeting you instructor, you will check in and fill the registration forms. It is recommended to have a light breakfast before meeting with the team.

Then, you will have a short theoretical session in which you will be taught the basics.

After being equipped, you will head to the practical part until lunchtime. After a break, you will continue with the open water practice.

AIDA 2 course consists of:

- Two theory sessions
- One breathing and relaxation session
- Two confined water sessions (usually swimming pool)
- Three open water sessions 
- One exam to pass at the end

Objectives

- Hold your breath on static apnea for 2 minutes.
- Dynamic apnea (horizontal swim with long fins on one breath) for 40m.
- Constant weight dive (vertical dive along the rope with long fins on one breath) up to 16m.
- 75% passing score for the written exam.

Itinerary

- Theory sessions:

You will learn the basics of Freediving physics and physiology
Breathing and relaxation for freediving
How to prevent blackout and LMC
How to rescue a freediver in trouble; how to safely improve your dives

- Static apnea session:

Your instructor will teach you advanced breathing and relaxation techniques
So you will be able to extend your breath-hold times easily and safely

- Dynamic apnea session:

You will learn what is the correct weighting to use
And you will receive precious advices on your finning technique and body position

- Open water sessions:

You will practice Frenzel equalization
Your instructor will help you to improve your technique in Free Immersion and Constant weight: duck dive - Body and head position - streamline position during the descent - Finning technique 
You will practice Safety and Rescue procedures from the depth and at the surface 
You will learn how to use the safety lanyard 
How to freedive close to the reef
Progressive adaptation to the depth.

Activity requirements

All participants must be able to swim 200m.

Previous experience as an intermediate snorkeler (5m - 10m) or scuba diver.

Special terms

All participants must be at least 18 years old. (16 years-olds must have parent or guardian consent)

Please note you are not allowed to fly for up to 24 hours after your last dive.

AIDA 1 + 2 course package

The AIDA 1 and 2 freediver course package is the most popular way to get in to freediving at Freediving Planet. This formula is designed for people who are not sure of their specific level, if they are more suitable for AIDA 1 or more suitable for AIDA2.So if you have any doubt, it would be simple to join our AIDA 1 and 2 packaged course.

The content of this course is the combination of the 1st and 2nd levels of the AIDA educational ladder in 3 to 3,5 days of fun sessions.

AIDA 1 & 2 package course consists of: 

Two theory sessions
One breathing and relaxation session
One static session (usually pool)
One dynamic session
Four open water dives
One static or open water session as an extra training
AIDA 2 exam to pass at the end.

Objectives

You will practice our breathing exercises
You will go through the complete AIDA 2 theory program
You will practice some muscles stretching exercises to prepare your dives

- Pool sessions:

You will practice a lot of static breath holding 
And learn the technics for dynamic apnea with and without fins

- Open water sessions:

Rescue and safety techniques
You will learn how to manage a smooth and easy Frenzel equalization
For the lucky ones, hand free equalization
You will learn how to dive deeper, with an adapted step by step approach
You will practice many descents in Free Immersions and Constant Weigh
You will be your personal coach to your success for a perfect freediving technique
