Rio Frades is a place of incredibly beautiful natural wealth. A former mining region, today the creeks and canyons along its flow are perfect for a canyoning excursion!
During the first World War, Rio Frades was a place were the Mining Company of Northern Portugal, owned by the Germans, extracted wolfram that was used in the production of weapons. Today, the area is a place of amazing biodiversity and home to several protected species such as the Iberian wolf.
Rio Frades is one of the most popular canyoning areas if all of Portugal. This canyon is has a series of accessible abseils that will challenge you, spectacular pristine pools in which you'll jump and swim! Most of the jumps along the way can be sorted out if you find them too extreme. The
Canyoning is considered by many as the ultimate outdoor sport since it combines techniques from rock climbing and abseiling, with hiking, jumping, swimming and even sliding down naturally carved slides! If you happen to experience this during summer, it makes an excellent way to cool off as you enjoy some time outdoors!

All participants must be able to swim. Minors must have authorization from their parents.
