Activity description

Build on your technical know-how and specialise in one exiting area of scuba diving with this multi-day SDI Advanced Adventure Diver course on the stunning Sesimbra shoreline!

Ready to dive deeper, become more independent and explore a new marine underworld? Head to the stunning Sesimbra coast for dive sites akin to the Caribbean and expert tutoring from local divers that make learning new scuba skills a rewarding adventure.

Learn how to explore both coral reefs and wrecks in the heart of the Luiz Saldanha Marine Park and even catch a glimpse of the area's local bottlenose dolphins on one your 5 dives!

Location
Only an hour drive from central Lisbon, Sesimbra is 49km from Lisbon Portela Airport. Dives range from shallow locations in Mar da Pedra to experienced sites on the coast Cabo Espichel with features like walls, reef, caves, shipwrecks, drift and deep dives in Luiz Saldanha Marine Park. One of the main dive sights off the Sesimbra coast is the River Gurara wreck, a 170m/557ft long Nigerian cargo ship.

Activity
A two-day Advanced Diver course accredited by SDI,
this intensive learning experience will give you an overview of five different SDI specialities for those who have already passed their basic Open Water qualification.

Two of the required specialities are the “Deep Diver” and “Navigation Diver” - the remaining speciality dives you can opt for include many, of which we suggest the “Advanced Buoyancy Control”, “Night/Limited Visibility” and “Wreck”.

This course is intended to introduce you to each of the five specialities selected; not complete comprehension of the chosen speciality. One dive from each of the chosen specialities may apply towards the completion of this certification.

Dive site

-River Gurara wreck is a 170m long Nigerian cargo ship. This site offers two dive locations at different depths, the stern lies at 25m and bow at 30m.
- Paredes do Cabo is a shallow dive close to the coast of Cabo Espichel with a variety of corals and views of the River Gurara.
- Ponta da Pombeira an area renowned for its big fish in the western area.
- Baleeira has a rich biodiverse community of fish, sea fans and octopuses which are very tame and be swam very close to
-Pedra do Leão is a distinctive rock formation with abundant corals and sea fans.

Conditions
The best time to dive Sesimbra is from April through October. The average water temperature ranges between (16-17°C) and requires a wetsuit all year round. The water visibility is generally between 3-8m/10-26ft but can get up to 15m/49ft. The River Guara wreck is reserved for SDI Advanced divers.
