Activity Snapshot
Activity description
Discover the Cirque de Salazie by descending the canyon of Trou Blanc and its waters from the Piton des Neiges!
Trou Blanc canyon is a canyon located near the charming village of Hell-Bourg that offers a very aquatic canyoning course with many jumps and natural slides in the waters of the Piton des Neiges. His adventure begins at the Piton d'Anchaing, a 1,356 meter high mountain classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2010, in the heart of the Cirque de Salazie.
After a 30 minutes uphill walk during which you will have a breathtaking view of the Cirque de Salazie, the Trou Blanc canyon will start with a 10 meters high abseiling in a narrow gorge, followed by several natural slides, one of which is in the shape of an "S" offering great sliding sensations. At mid-day, it will be time to enjoy a picnic break at the edge of one of the pools of the Trou Blanc canyon in which those who wish to do so can jump from 4 meters high, a good training for the rest of the descent!
Indeed, many jumps up to 8 meters high are waiting for you (all not compulsory), as well as small abseils and a new memorable slide called "the particle gas pedal". Then, to end the Trou Blanc canyon on a more aerial note, you will leave the waterfalls for a moment to enjoy a 20 meters high and 35 meters long zip line that will land you in the river water.
The canyon of Trou Blanc does not present any technical difficulty, but it is still recommended to be in good physical condition and to have the desire to get the full thrill to tackle it. So if you are passing by Hell-Bourg in the Cirque de Salazie and you feel bold enough, go for the Trou Blanc canyon without further delay!
