Does climbing the third-highest summit of the Réunion Island sound tempting? At 2,898m high, the Grand Bénare offers jaw-dropping panoramic views of the cirques of Mafate and Cilaos, as well at the Piton des Neiges that overlooks them.
Taking place every day in private, this eight-hours hike takes you to the heart of nature, trekking through the Réunion Island National Parks and past UNESCO World Heritage-listed ramparts. The lush tropical green forests here are filled with natural medicinal plants and colourful reptiles.
Whether you’re venturing alone, with your family, or with a group of friends, a team of friendly local guides will be at hand. They will share with you their wealth of knowledge when passing through the peaks and culturally rich settings that accompany this amazing trail.
Meet your team of guides for a full brief, before driving to the trail’s starting point, Piton Maïdo. You will then head out onto the trail, negotiating testing ascents through rich forestation on your way up to one of the highest peaks on the island.
Once you reach the summit, there will be plenty of photo opportunities thanks to breath-taking panoramic views. You will then head down to La Glacière, a jagged landscape of old volcanic rock that holds water pools and next to deep, dark caves.

This track covers 15km so a moderate fitness level is required.

Bureau Montagne Réunion offers daily outings with no minimum number of participants, for a guaranteed departure from the first reservation.

Your reservation will be validated only after verification of Manawa with the provider, a supplement of 30€ will be payable on site for any private reservation in a foreign language (English, Italian, German or Spanish).
