Sainte Suzanne canyon, also called Bassin Boeuf, is undoubtedly the most popular family canyon in Reunion Island.
Sainte-Suzanne canyon THE canyon for beginners and families located in northeastern Reunion island. Accompanied by an experienced instructor, you can go through a part or the entire canyon.
The first part of the canyon is called "Sainte Suzanne classique". It is adapted for an initiation and families and can be done in half day. The second part, called "Sainte Suzanne intégral", is a sporty canyon due to the higher physical condition needed and the fact that it is a long route. A full day is necessary.
The canyon starts with an approach walk of 2 minutes and then a descent in the river with numerous basins. Then, a little abseil allows you to enter the gorgeous "Bassin Nicole". You will continue with a little optional jump in the next pool.
Sainte Suzanne river crosses a cave for about 20 kilometres and flows into the next basin. After a guided abseil, you will make a break to eat and have some fun with numerous jumps to do.
Finally, it's time for the final pool of the first part of the canyon with a zipline, abseil and jump of 9 metres (optional). The walk until the car park takes about 10 minutes for the "Sainte Suzanne classique" route.
For the "Sainte Suzanne intégral" route, you will continue the descent for an additional 2 hours with abseils, a 6-metre jump, a slide, and a giant zipline in the last pool of the canyon!
