Activity Snapshot
Activity description
So you've seen the awesome videos of people using kites to jump over the waves and you've decided you want to try it! La Caletta Kite will teach you the basics so you can start your kiting adventures!
La Caletta is a white sand beach stretching for 4 km. along the eastern coast of Sardinia. There, winds coming from the south, known as Sirocco, create choppy waters that create an interesting challenge to the water conditions as opposed to the north winds, the Mistral, that can create waves of up 2 meters. Fortunately, La Caletta doesn't have any considerable hazards and you'll be training on a sandy beach, this means that even if you have to face choppy waters, you'll be able to learn how to kitesurf safely!
La Caletta Kite's beginner's course focuses on three modules. The first one will be a theory session in which will learn about the kite flying window, the area where the kite can actually harvest the power of the wind, safety measures so you can then sail safely, understanding and setting up the equipment and self-rescue.
The second part of the course will focus on body drag in the water for around 2 to 3 hours in which you'll master the control of the kite in near real conditions. Finally, during 1 or 2 hours, you'll begin practicing water start with the kiteboard on your feet and your first rides with both left and right winds!
As an extra plus, La Caletta Kite will have their rescue boat on sight so you can feel comfortable in case you might need it, also you'll be in communication with your coach thanks to their radio helmets!
During this course you'll learn:
- Wind behavior
- Equipment management
- Safety measures
- Principles on the flight window
