Available at 3 key bases in northern Sardinia, lessons take place in either Platamona, Alghero or Sintino - an area renowned for its shallow protected bays and shore breaks. Close to the popular port of Porto Torres, the northwesterly coast also has two national parks that make it great for open water touring, too.
Meet your instructor at the activity base in either Platamona, Alghero or Sintino for SUP lessons. Organised according to age and ability, choose to focus on the basics of flat water touring – or for anyone with previous surfing experience, lessons can be organised for wave riding, too. If you’re a beginner, you will start on the sand with a kit breakdown and safety briefing – explaining the knee to standing series that will help you get to your feet when you’re on the water. After learning a few paddle and balance techniques in the shallows, you will follow your instructor out along the coastline – spending your two-hour group or private lesson exploring the secret bays and beaches of northern Sardinia like Asinara National Park near Sintino or Porto Conte near Alghero. For more experienced riders, beaches like Platamona are a great place to try wave riding – using the central mini-break to practise your take off and board control. All kit rental is included in the price, so you can demo the latest kit, too!
Lessons are organised for flat water tuition or wave riding lessons. The bay is protected from wind and waves with a shallow with a sandy bottom near the national parks, whilst the local beach break in Platamona is renowned for its soft shore breaks suitable for beginners Private lessons are recommended for intermediate/advanced riders.
