Embrace the spirit of adventure and come hike with a passionate and certified AIGAE guide as you make your way to the top of Mount Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano!
Starting from Piazzale Rifugio Sapienza at 1,900m above sea level, you will begin your ascent along a trail that will take you to the summit of Montagnola at 2,640m.
Once there, it’s time to relax, take a breath, and let yourself fully embrace this historic moment at the top. You will be rewarded with breathtaking, panoramic views that range from the hilltop village of Taormina to the Gulf of Catania and from the Valle del Bove to the summit craters! Don’t forget to bring your camera so you can capture this momentous accomplishment and share it with your friends and family back home.
As you make your descent on a downward slope, you’ll get to let loose and run and jump down the black lava sand! Losing altitude, you will get to see the craters of Mount Etna’s most recent eruptions where you’ll have the opportunity to explore around the crater edges.
Expect to reach the starting point with your face and body smeared with volcanic ash, a lovely souvenir of this unique hiking excursion on one of the most famous active volcanoes in the world!
