Location
This activity takes place at Marina Martinique just 10 minutes outside of Jeffreys Bay, just a short walk from the parking area you will find the dunes. The main town is bordered on both sides by nature reserves and rivers – the Kabeljous and Seekoei estuaries and within Jeffreys Bay –the Noorsekloof nature reserve.

Activity
Meet your instructor at the activity base for this sandboarding lesson in J Bay. Travelling to the beach, get a quick kit breakdown and demo on how sandboarding works – trying a few trust techniques to find out whether you’re goofy or regular! Start on some of the smaller gradient slopes, learning how to complete a controlled turn and use your body to balance. Unlike hard-packed snow, falling on the dunes doesn’t hurt – but you might get some sand in your pants! As you improve, your instructor will move you on to higher and steeper dunes that have some of the best views of Jeffrey’s Bay and the neighbouring nature reserve. Walking up the dunes can be hard work, so don’t forget to take a break and enjoy the views – if you’re lucky, you might even see a whale on the horizon… A two-hour lesson suitable for groups of friends and families alike, once you’ve nailed link turns – into onto big air – if you dare!

Conditions
From gentle slopes for beginners to steeper gradients for the more experienced sand boarder,  groups can choose to do as much or as little as they like using the board for sand riding and skeleton boarding, too.
