Location
Situated on the eastern coast of South Africa, Jeffrey's Bay (J'Bay) is beach resort 75km from Port Elizabeth. Home to the longest righthand pointbreak on the planet, J'Bay consists of no less than 10 different sections including Kitchen Windows, Magnatubes, Boneyards, Supertubes, Impossibles, Salad Bowls, Coins, Tubes, The Point and finally Albatross. Since the hippy days in the 60s, Jeffreys has grown into a bustling tourist destination, filled with surf shops, restaurants and bars, with the beautiful beaches and ocean life it is a great place to visit on your trip along the coast.
Activity
Master the basics of surfing on this 2-hour beginner's surfing lesson on Dolphin Beach in Jeffrey's Bay. Meet your instructor at the surf school for a group, private or semi-private (2people) lesson. Start on the sand where you will learn about water safety before completing a quick warm up. Start practising your standing series before you head into the waves for your first attempt and standing up and riding in. Using the waist-height foamies to gently bring you back to shore, learn how to paddle out and learning how to pick your own waves - getting a helpful push from your instructor, too! Surf rental and wetsuits are included in the price to ensure you have all the kit you need to help you progress.
Conditions
Dolphin Beach is the main beach on Jeffrey's Bay. This wide stretch of soft white sand, lapped by small & constant waves has been awarded Blue Flag status. Boasting a magnificent moderate climate all year round, it has been rated as having the fourth best weather in the world! Summers are dry and warm while winters are remarkably mild, with year-round rainfall. Average daily maximum temperatures range from 19.5°C in July to 25°C in February. The region is the coldest during July when the temperatures drop to 8°C on average during the night.
