This activity is run and operated from a traditional farmhouse 30-minutes drive outside Lulea - a northerly county in Sweden. Situated on the outskirts of the Taiga (boreal forest), this area is part of Swedish Lapland.
Meet the team at the activity base near Lulea for this dog sledding excursion. A chance to journey through Lapland's iconic winter terrain with your own team of dogs, this hands-on experience puts you in the driving seat - allowing you to appreciate the trials and triumphs of life in the high arctic. Like all great adventures in Lapland, your lesson starts with kitting up in the right equipment (snow boots, outerwear etc.) heading to the kennels where you'll be introduced to your pack and learn how to harness up. You'll learn a few commands and techniques before you follow the lead musher into the woods - travelling along existing trails deep into the forest. Stopping to give the dogs a break and take a few photos, if you've chosen to share a sled, this is where you can change drivers - travelling back through the snow-laden woods to a traditional log cabin. Here, you'll say goodbye to your huskies and head inside for hot drinks and local snacks - the perfect end to an authentic Lapland experience!
Operating during the winter season from December to March, this activity is suitable to anyone of good physical fitness 13 years and up. Two itineraries are available 10 km or 21km - both with private or shared sled options.
