Explore the largest forest in the world on this snowshoeing tour in the Swedish Taiga!
A natural corridor that connects Northern Europe and Scandinavia, the Taiga is the last frontier before the punishing polar conditions of the arctic circle. Explore Swedish Lapland like a local on this guided snowshoeing excursion - choosing to discover this unique biosphere by day or night...
This activity is run and operated from a traditional farmhouse 30-minutes drive outside Lulea - a northerly county in Sweden. Situated on the outskirts of the Taiga (boreal forest), this area is part of Swedish Lapland.
Meet the team at the activity base near Lulea for this snowshoeing excursion. Run and operated by an experienced nature guide, this is a great opportunity to explore Swedish Lapland with a knowledgable local - hiking through the forests the old fashioned way! Like all great adventures in Lapland, your excursion starts with kitting up in the right equipment (snow boots, outerwear and snowshoes). Wrapping up, you'll set off into the Taiga for a 2-hour hike - using crampons and poles to make your way through the frozen forest. Looking out for native wildlife along the way (reindeer, wolves, birds of prey etc.) reach a traditional log cabin where you can warm up around the fire and enjoy traditional Swedish delicacies. Want to experience this winter wonderland after the sun goes down? Opt for the evening adventure where you'll travel by torchlight and enjoy a cosy campfire, too! A truly authentic Lapland experience!
Operating during the winter season from December to March, this activity is suitable for anyone of reasonable physcial fitness from 8 years and up. Adult and junior snowshoes available.
