Bodysurf on the rapids of the Sarine River on this hydrospeed excursion!
Embrace the elements on this immerseve white water experience in the heart of Gruyère Pays-d'Enhaut Regional National Park. Let the whitewater be your entertainment as you hydrospeed down the Sarine River – playing on the riffles and national toboggans that make this rapid run so notorious!
This activity is run & operated from Château d’Oex in the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland. A grade two section of the Sarine River, this route travels from Saanen to Rougemont through Gruyère Pays-d'Enhaut National Park.
Meet your guide at the activity base in Château d’Oex for this hydrospeed excursion on the Sarine River. An alternative to traditional rafting, hydrospeeding is like bodysurfing, using a float and fins to help you navigate the whitewater of the Sarine River – swimming into Valmy Gorge, an exciting course carved out through Gruyère Pays-d'Enhaut National Park. Starting with a short safety briefing and route breakdown, head down to the embankment area where you’ll get a chance to test the kit with your guide before you hit the first in a series of rapids. Swimming into the current, use your flippers and float to navigate the river as it picks up the pace – stopping at sections of the rapids to try small wave riding, tricks and turns and enjoying the eddies as they spin you round in circles! The big finale is Vanel Gorge – an impressive steep-sided ravine where you can really marvel in the sheer size and scale of this national park- a fun & accessible adventure for all ages and abilities!
Operating during the summer season (April - October) when the river is at its lowest, this section of the Sarine is graded + II. Please consult the river grading system below:
Class II: Straightforward rapids with wide, clear channels which are evident without scouting
Class III: Rapids with moderate, irregular waves, strong eddies and powerful currents
