Activity description

Explore some of Zanzibar’s best coral gardens on this entry-level PADI course in Nungwi!

A chance to explore and learn at the same time, this PADI Open Water course is designed for total beginners with just a few days to spare. Spend them well on this supervised scuba course in Northern Zanzibar that guarantees to take you from the pool to the open ocean in less than a week – ideal for the island hopper with a taste for adventure!

Location
This activity takes place in Nungwi on the Northern tip of Zanzibar. Due to Zanzibar's welcoming tropical conditions, diving is suitable for divers of all levels. This also makes it a great place to get your PADI certificate – offering 8 dive sites around Nungwi.

Activity
Meet your dive master in Nungwi for this PADI Open Water course in northern Zanzibar. A three-day itinerary following a PADI-approved curriculum, go from the pool to the open ocean in less than a week – sampling some of the best shore dives Zanzibar has to offer as part of the course. An itinerary the covers both the practical and theoretical aspects of diving, start with an intro dive – getting you used to the weights, tanks and respirator– teaching you how to dive to a maximum depth of 18m. Once you’ve mastered the basics it’s time to leave the safety of the pool and head out to explore Zanzibar’s famous dive sites – discovering shore sites and nearby coral reefs, practising additional dive skills in the shallow water. Once you have mastered these skills in shallow water, it is time to practice them in deeper water, on your second Open water dive to 12 meters – receiving your temporary PADI Open Water Diver certification

Dive Sites
Nungwi Reef: 5-12m
A shore dive just a stone’s throw from the classroom, wade in and explore macro-critters and tropical fish alike -  looking out for sea horses, turtles moray ells and octopuses, too!

Hunga / Nankiville 12-16m
Two boat dives connected by corals, both sites are renowned for their exceptional visibility and busy reefs. Common sightings include barracuda, snapper, sweet lips and grouper.
