Swap the camel for four wheels on this dune buggy safari in the Arabian desert.
A lean, mean, dune-bashing machine – explore the horizon on this buggy adventure in the endless sands of the Arabian Desert. A landscape once reserved for wandering nomads and caravans of camels, today the UAE is one of the best places to explore by 4x4, offering a sense of freedom that depends on skilled riding and an inherent sense of direction…
Home to Big Red, this activity takes place in Al Badayer Sharjah –renowned among 4x4 enthusiasts as having some of the UAE’s most impressive dunes. Located on the higher plateau of Al Madam, Al Badayer is around 65km southeast of Sharjah city - forming part of the Dubai-Sharjah-Ajman metropolitan area.
Meet your guide at the activity base in Al Badayer for this dune buggy experience in the Arabian Desert. Offering a one-hour intro for beginners or a more extensive two-hour tour for more confident riders, guests can choose to explore the landscape at dawn, dusk and even in the dead of night – when the buggies are equipped with neon lights to lead the way! Whatever time of day you choose, each adventure starts with a short safety briefing and a demo to ensure both driver and passenger are ready to ride. Starting out on some rough gravel tracks, make your way into the barren lands of the dune fields, climbing up sand towers that have taken thousands of years to form and racing your guide to local landmarks like Big Red and Pink Rock. Still a working trade route for locals, count camels on the horizon as they plod along towards the gulf, punctuating the landscape and you cruise along the ever changing contours of the dunes. Using the natural landscape as a compass, slalom down the undulations at high speed, riding back to base camp where your adventure will end.
This activity uses two-seater Polaris 1000cc XP RZR buggies – with no need for previous experience or a driving licence to participate (age limits apply). Passengers are permitted.
