Activity description

A tropical biosphere awaits on this snorkelling trip to Cham Island!

Sneak up on sleeping nurse sharks and swim in the shadow of mighty eagle rays on the snorkelling excursion to Cham Island! A bonafide UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Cham Island stands out as a jewel on the Vietnamese peninsular, offering sanctuary for marine life big and small. Part of the larger Cu Lao Cham Marine Park, this lagoon-like outcrop of coral reefs makes the perfect playground for a day of underwater exploring!

Cham Islands (Vietnamese:  Cù  lao  Chàm) constitute of a group of 8 small islands which form a part of the Cu  Lao  Cham  Marine  Park,  a World  Biosphere Reserve recognized by  UNESCO. From Cua Dai wharf the archipelago can be reached by boat (1 hour transfer time).

Meet your guide in Hoi An for this snorkelling excursion to Cham Island. The ideal experience for groups of friends and families alike – this fun and accessible trip needs no diving experience or technical kit – allowing you to explore the surface with a mask, snorkel and fins! Setting off from Cua Dai Warf, head out on your wooden Vietnamese longboat – travelling through the UNESCO protected biosphere to reach Cham Island. Unlike other boat trips in the area, this excursion will drop anchor at Hon Nhon beach – allowing you swim straight from the shore and relax on the beach - find soft and hard corals teeming with pipefish, seahorses and nudibranchs as well as schooling fish. Travelling to the heart of the reserve, you will be served a traditional Vietnamese seafood lunch on Bai Chong beach – spending the afternoon exploring one of the archipelago’s most beautiful islands, or sleeping it off in one of the hammocks – returning to Hoi An late afternoon.

Cu Lao Cham Marine Park is open from February to November – and includes access to Hon Nhon and Bai Chong. Offering two shore dives, snorkelling takes place in shallow coral gardens and reefs not far from the beach – making it ideal for young children. Park Fees not included.
