Alta Garrotxa: What to do when you get there ?

The Alta Garrotxa has an extension of c.300 km2. It is a complex territory formed by the northern volcanic mountains of the Garrotxa, the eastern end of the Ripolles and the western end of the Alt Emporda.

This complexity creates spectacular scenery dressed in green by different types of oaks and an abundant and variant flora, differencing it from other areas in the Gerona region.

Active and sport tourism in this region is extremely common and is usually done within the Natural Park of L'Alta Garrotxa, which is a protected area, full of exciting limestone cliffs, ridges and valleys that can’t wait to be discovered.

This majestic spot is notably the idyllic place to practice canyoning and hiking, allowing visitors a dazzle with its imposing landscapes.

Excellent for families with small children. Our children are 9 and 7 and loved it. We are going to include a canyoning day in all our summer holidays whenever possible from now on.
