Ronda: What to do when you get there ?

Ronda is a place like no other, sitting on a rocky cliff of 739m above sea level. This one of a kind city looks like the perfect setting for a movie due to its prehistoric settlements dating to the Neolithic Age. Situated in the north western part of the province of Malaga the town is surrounded by mountains and history.

Travellers come each year to explore the 21 natural protected areas in the spot that offer a plethora of outdoor and ecotourism activities. A renowned part of the city is the Tajo de Ronda canyon. A favourite amongst canyoning and nature lovers due to the fact that river Guadalevin Guadiaro flows.

Nature lovers flock from around the globe to see the largest cork oak forest in the Iberian Peninsula and the most important in the world: the Natural Park Alcornocales. Caving enthusiasts can unveil the hidden paths within Serrania de Ronda, which is one of the larges cave systems in the world.

Canoeing is also a practiced sport within the area; you can try it out in the heart of the Grazalema Natural Park or the Swamp of Zahara de la Sierra. With all those natural protected areas any extreme sport goes, so pack your bags and come explore Ronda!
