An outdoor activity that's all about brains over brawn, learn how to trust your equipment and glide gracefully to the valley floor on abseiling excursions in in the beautiful Matukituki Valley. If the sheer drop doesn't take your breath away than the scenery certainly will - with glacier cirques, soaring mountain peaks, tussock grasslands and beech forest to the end of Raspberry Creek.
Renowned for its lakes, rivers, waterfalls, forests, and mountains, visitors from around the world are drawn to the Wanaka region by its outstanding beauty. Located a 30-minute drive from the centre of Wanaka on New Zealand's South Island, the Matukituki Valley an outdoor mecca popular with climbers. On the outskirts of Mt. Aspiring National Park, it is also known for its via ferrata tour alongside the Twin Falls and canyoning trails.
Meeting at the centre in Wanaka, groups will be driven out to the Matukituki Valley and hike to the abseiling wall for a half-day abseiling excursion. Instructors will lead you through the basics at ground level, progressing through a variety of slopes as your confidence increases. Then groups will hike to the top of our abseil course and descend a series of abseils, all on the doorstep of Mt Aspiring National Park. The perfect mix for families and adults alike, learn how to lean back, control your descent and maneuver down the wall - all without needing to climb up!
