Saber más sobre Into the Glacier

A few guys with one crazy idea to drill deep into Iceland's second largest glacier, Into The Glacier offers groundbreaking tours in the frozen belly of Langjökull.

Until now, what lies under the surface of the Langjokull glacier, has been a mystery, known only by a small group of scientists and glaciologists. In 2010 however, Baldvin Einarsson and Hallgrimur Örn Arngrímsson had a bold and daring vision, to take people not just around and onto, but also inside the heart of the remote and extraordinary glacier ice cap, to see the magnificent “blue ice” which is buried deep beneath the surface.

With this bold idea in mind, top engineers, a renowned geophysicist and presidential candidate, Ari Trausti Guðmundsson, began studying, planning, modelling and carefully preparing for construction. Against the odds, what started as a dream, rapidly became a reality - combining enthusiasm and drive with science, engineering, finance and political support -  making it possible to shape the first and biggest man-made Ice Cap Glacier Ice Cave.

Creating a brand new attraction in the middle of a once inaccessible region, Into the Glacier offers various tours to Iceland‘s newly-accessible ice cave. The ice tunnel and the caves are located high on Iceland‘s second largest glacier, Langjökull -  giving you an amazing opportunity to explore the glacier and see it from the inside.

A once in a lifetime experience to descent deep under the ice, head to the lesser known outskirts of Húsafell in Iceland for a glacial hiking excursion like never before!
