Earn your wings on this comprehensive paragliding course on the dramatic Bukit Peninsula. One of the best places to be during the main wind season, Bali’s long coastline and stunning beaches make the perfect playground for aspiring pilots – allowing you to spend your week mastering the basics and gaining a PL-1 licence at the end.
This activity takes place from the flight centre in Benoa, South Kuta, Badung Regency. Close to Pandawa Beach and Nusa Dua, the school has a dedicated classroom take-off/landing area and training airfield suitable for learners.
A 7-day itinerary for beginner paragliders looking to go solo, this PL-1 course covers all the essential elements of novice flying – taking you from the classroom to the open air over a range of supervised training lessons. During the months of July to September, the southerly trade winds coming off the Indian Ocean allows for ideal wind direction and strength affording some of the most ideal teaching conditions in Indonesia. Covering everything from technical aviation to practical gliding techniques, learn how to handle the canopy from the ground, moving onto supervised low-level flights and manoeuvres. Joining the team each day for a selection of theory and hands-on lessons, this course also includes a scenic flight with your instructor – talking you through the demo to ensure you pass the PL-1 qualification at the end.
This activity operates during the main wind season that runs from April to October. A graduate of a student certification course is now licensed to fly solo, under supervision, as a new pilot under the Federasi Aerosport Seluruh Indonesia (FASI) regulation. Take-off and landing are limited to flying sites with an easier rating.
