Inle is a 21km long lake fringed by marshes and floating gardens used by traditional Intha fisherman. A main trading hub close to the town of Nyaungshwe, it is renowned for its adorned stilt houses, Buddist temples and natural vistas. Due to its scenic location, the area is served by a domestic airport ( Heho) an hour’s drive from the lake.
A scenic hot air balloon flight over Inle Lake, your adventure starts with a short transfer from your accommodation to the launch area where you will enjoy some light refreshments as the team inflates the balloon. Once your pilot is ready, you will be invited to step into the basket where the ties will be released and you ascend gently over the treeline. Gliding softly over Inle Lake, you will have a chance to see local fisherman using traditional nets to catch fish and rowing with their quirky one leg stance! An extraordinary way to experience one of Myanmar’s most scenic and cultural attractions, watch boats laden with produce on their way to the market through a maze of green floating canals and spot golden spires from Buddist temples in the distance. A one hour flight, breakfast is taken next to one of the beautiful Shan villages before you return to your accommodation where this activity will end.
Organised according to basket capacity including a pilot and maximum weight allowances, the balloon is guided by gentle winds not exceeding 15 mph, allowing passengers a serene and peaceful bird's-eye view of Inle Lake.
