Don't miss the opportunity to swim and snorkel with the fastest fish in the ocean! The sailfish adventure is a special and unique encounter.
Every year, approximately from December to March, large groups of sailfish arrive to the warm Caribbean waters near Isla Mujeres chasing groups of sardines. The sardines form a massive shimmering ball, thousands of tiny fish moving as one.
Sailfish congregate around the balls of sardines; often in groups of 20 to 40. They take turns piercing through these moving balls separating the group into smaller clusters then feasting on their helpless prey.
The rest of the sailfish wait eagerly for their turn on the edges while seabirds fly overhead, diving into to steal what prey they can. Watching the sardines dance in unison to avoid their quick thinking predators is an thrilling and unforgettable sight.
Sailfish are the fastest fish in the ocean with recorded speeds of up to 110 km hour. They get their name from their spectacular dorsal fin that stretches almost the whole length of their body. Blue-grey in colour with a white underbelly, they can grow up to 11ft in length and weigh up to 220 pounds. These powerful creatures are members of the billfish family and can be identified by their distinctive spears.
You have the opportunity to learn about the fascinating feeding habits of these incredible hunters in the crystal clear waters of the Mexican Caribbean. You will be taught to keep an eye out for the birds that soar above the sailfish as they feed on groups of sardines. Then you can jump in, snorkel and enjoy the spectacle for yourself.

Sailfish sightings may be challenging so there is no guarantee on observations – All water based activities are at the mercy of sea and weather conditions as well as the eating patterns of wild animals. Although there is an 80% success rate and all resources are implemented to accomplish the activity, it is highly recommend booking at least two days of activities for higher success rates.
