Combine a dog sledding adventure with a guided tour direct from downtown Tromso to the magical new winter wonderland of Tromso Ice Domes.
Dog sledding is a tradition of travel in the Arctic. Our dog sledding consist of a musher, a sled and Alaskan huskies. It´s an adventurous activity for your Arctic holiday in Tromsø. We love doing this and want to share the amazing feeling of leading a dog sled with happy and strong Alaskan huskies. From our kennel we slide into the snow-covered valley of Tamokdalen, between trees and over hills.
You don´t need any experience because our guides will give you all the equipment you need, teach you how to use the sled and then into the wild we go. You will drive in pairs and rotate halfway along the track. We will pick you up with our bus in Tromsø city and drive you back after the tour.
For all departures, pick-up is outside the Magic Ice Bar in Tromsø. Please meet up 15 min before your departure. Our driver and bus will meet you in front of the hotel
Set among high mountains in the beautiful Tamok Valley, Tromso Ice Domes is built every year as the Polar Night approaches.
The snow and ice art reflects the unique bond between man and nature in a unique and breath-taking manner. The ice bar, our ice cinema, the ice bedrooms, and ice restaurant have themes ranging from local Sami culture to the northern lights conveyed through beautiful colored lighting and wonderful ice sculptures.
At the Ice Domes you will join a guided tour and learn about the construction process of an ice hotel and the impact the snow has for the survival of our arctic animals. There will be time to walk around freely and ask questions the experienced guide. A non-alcoholic ice shot at the stunning ice bar is complimentary. You will be able to purchase other drinks, which will be served in the ice restaurant or ice bar.
We also have a small group of reindeer at the Tromsø Ice Domes for our guests to visit. Please note that there is no reindeer sledding, sami culture, or petting the reindeer involved in this tour
Dog sledding with our Alaskan huskies is an active experience. The sled team consists of two and two people on one sled sharing a team of dogs. Alaskan huskies love to run and together with the team you have to help and push on parts of the tour. Teamwork is essential in dog sledding.
Because of the activity level, we do not recommend dog sledding for people with physical disabilities, back problems, pelvic problems or for pregnant women over five months.
