Dating back to the 7th century, the UNESCO protected area is renowned for the 5,000 tombs cut into the cliffs - making an area of high archaeological interest and a poignant relic of human history. An 8km trek through the Meditteranean landscape, travel at a casual pace through dense forest and darkened tunnels to reach the site of the city, which Cicero described as ‘the greatest Greek city and the most beautiful of all’' - home to the Temple of Athena, a Greek theatre, a Roman amphitheatre, a fort and more. After a picnic lunch in the necropolis, your guide will show you some of the valley's secret pools. Cut into the bedrock, take a dip and soak up the views of cool off under one of the many waterfalls hidden deep in the limestone canyon!
