Diving in Zanzibar gives you the chance to explore the stunning underwater world that full to the brim with schools of tropical reef fish, turtles, dolphins, nudibranchs and beautiful hard and soft coral formations.
The dives mainly take place around the Mnemba Atoll, which is regarded as the best diving area on Zanzibar. Thanks to Dive Point Zanzibar's location, you'll have easy access to the diving spots located in Mnemba, but you can also reach the north-east coast reefs that offer a lot of beautiful corals and an abundance of fish.
Some dives are done on the walls, some on the sloping reefs and some over the sandy bottom with rocks full of corals and fish. The dive sites are suitable for all levels of experience, from beginners to advanced.
The dive centre offers two dives a day. Usually leaving from the dive centre in the morning and coming back around lunch time. The plans for the dive sites are made on daily basis and depend on the tides, weather, sea conditions and the size and experience of the group. During the surface interval, between the dives, you'll stay on the boat and enjoy snacks, fruits and water. Most of the dives are done to the maximum depth of 18 meters.
As a special trip you can go out to Shanes Reef near Nungwi. It is a great place for experienced and beginner divers with lots of life and strange creatures like leaf fish, different scorpion fish, nudibranchs and even frog fish and sea horses.
The dive centre uses three dive boats: two 9 meter wooden diving dhows called "Pole Pole" ("slowly slowly" in Swahili) and "Kati Kati"" ("in between" in Swahili), not very fast but comfortable, used more for closer dive sites. They also have an 8 meter Superduck called "Pili Pili" ("spicy spicy" in Swahili), with two 85 hp Yamaha engines which enables you to travel to further reefs. The boats are equipped with Oxygen and First Aid kits.
The regulators and BCDs are from SCUBAPRO. They also have 5 mm, long and short REEF wet suites in variety of sizes. The tanks are 10 and 12 l steel SCUBAPRO, both DIN and INT. Dive Point Zanzibar prides itself on taking great care of its equipment by having it regularly checked and serviced from certified technicians.
The tanks are filled with a Bauer compressor also bought brand new in 2013. Thanks to regular service and SECURUS system that has been installed the diving centre has the Bauer Pure Air Station Certificate. Everyone likes to breathe fresh air.
