Activity Snapshot
Activity description
Be prepared to test your technique as you descend into the belly of Iragna Canyon on this varied and challenging adventure excursion in Ticino.
Combining all the elements that make canyoning a favourite alpine sport come summer, the fresh meltwater, dramatic canyons and quiet woodland location of Iragna offer the ideal playground for adventurous mountaineers and climbers looking to put their rope skills into practice in this surprising and unpredictable natural setting.
Location
Iragna is regarded as a top-rated canyon popular for its 40m waterfall. Located just outside the namesake town on the southern side of the Alps, Iragna is in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland more akin to the Meditteranean. Known for its crystal clear water, fantastic views into the valley and all the playful challenges you would expect in a first-class canyon: jumps, slides and great abseils are in high supply!
Activity
A 4.5-hour canyoning excursion suited to participants with a sense of adventure and a good level of fitness - meet at the activity base in Osogna-Cresciano Stazione where you will receive information about the trip as well as your equipment. The entry to the gorge is an approx 50mins walk. After safety-talk, comprehensive instructions and some familiarisation exercises, you are ready to go. Your trip will lead you through one of the most beautiful canyons of Ticino covering a 300m course across the Iragna middle section - descending 130m before returning to the base for complimentary refreshments to toast your adventure!
