Activity Snapshot
Activity description
Raft down the Aude River from Axat, on the border between the Eastern Pyrenees and Aude regions!
Rafting is a team sport where everyone is involved in the good progress of the descent. In addition to rafting, you will jump and swim in the river, practice safety maneuvers and discover a valley still wild in places.
The Aude River allows you to practice rafting on three different courses, each with a different level of commitment. The Aude offers an ideal setting for the practice of white water sports such as rafting! Competitors and beginners will find the course adapted to their desires for this rafting in the Pyrenees, located at one hour from Perpignan and two hours from Toulouse.
Sud Rafting welcomes you on its nautical base before equipping you with a neoprene suit, a vest, a helmet and a paddle. The rafts are designed for a maximum of 8 people. A safety briefing will be given before the start of the rafting trip so that all team members are informed of the different maneuvers necessary to control a raft in the rapids.
Three rafting courses are proposed to allow everyone to find their own way:
Discovery rafting - 7 km of fun and easy descent classified 2/3
- Class 2 = irregular waves with some rapids without difficulty. Simple obstacles in the current and ideal for beginners.
- Class 3 = high and irregular waves corresponding to the first stage of the sport river.
Sport rafting - about 7 km of descent on the most agitated part of the Aude classified 2 to 4
- Class 4 = river with an important difference in level where big waves follow one another, powerful and fast rollers, with rocks obstructing the current. Rafting enthusiasts will love it!
Full rafting - 14 km corresponding to the sequence of the first two courses. If you have stamina and are a regular rafter, go for it!
Sud Rafting takes care of your travel needs for the activity: the ascent to the start of the full and discovery courses, and the return to the base after the sport and full courses.
