A must for sportsmen in the Ossau Valley, the Bitet canyon in Laruns is divided into 2 distinct parts, each with its own characteristics. Their main common points remain that they both take place in a sublime wild natural setting and are not accessible to absolute beginners!
Indeed, the canyon of the Upper Bitet and the Lower Bitet are full of canyoning obstacles which require good physical condition and mastery of basic rope techniques in order to make the descent without any worries. A state-qualified canyoning instructor will of course remain at your side throughout the trip to guide you and ensure your safety.
For half a day, the Bitet Supérieur canyon offers you a descent punctuated by beautiful jumps and abseils under waterfalls (the highest measuring 15 meters), in a pleasantly quiet environment due to its very low level of traffic. For the day, the Bitet Inférieur canyon will delight the most athletic with its 5 hours of descent between basins and waterfalls (the highest offering a 32 meters abseil), as well as an incredible underground passage.
