Take part in your first scuba diving course from Santa Barbara Beach in Corfu and explore the underwater world of the Ionian Sea with an experienced diver! Courses for both adults and children are available.
Corfu is a stunning Greek island nestled in the Ionian Sea, known for its rich history, unique landscapes, and beautiful beaches. Santa Barbara Beach is a popular beach located on the northwest coast of Corfu. It is a great place for scuba diving, with crystal-clear waters offering excellent visibility!
Discover Scuba Diving is a scuba diving session for beginners. You don't need any previous diving experience, you'll learn all the basics from a certified instructor. To begin the adventure, you'll meet the instructor at the starting point at Santa Barbara Beach. They will provide all of the scuba diving equipment, including a mask, fins, a snorkel, a buoyancy compensator, a wet suit, a regulator, and a tank. There is a special course catered towards children aged 8-14 years old, or an adult course for those over 14 years old.
After introductions at the diving centre, you'll start learning the theory of scuba diving. The instructor will go through the history of the sport, the equipment, and its use. Then, you'll get geared up and practice a first dive in shallow waters to learn how to use the equipment. Once you feel comfortable breathing underwater, you'll travel to a majestic reef near Santa Barbara Beach. The water temperature varies from 17 to 27 degrees Celsius, and the visibility underwater is over 10 metres (33 feet), perfect scuba diving conditions!
At the reef, you'll have your first open-water dive with the instructor! Diving to a maximum depth of 12 metres (39 feet), you'll explore the unique underwater world of the Ionian Sea. You'll encounter vast seagrass beds, huge blocks of stone, and small caves full of corals and shells. Looking around you may spot herds of pike and sardines, while octopuses and groupers hide deep inside the caves. If you're lucky, you may see the most beautiful turtle of the Mediterranean Sea, the Caretta Caretta sea turtle!
At the end of the sensational dive, you'll return to the dive centre at Santa Barbara Beach. The instructor will present you with a first dive certification to keep as a souvenir of your trip. Underwater photos of you during the dive will also be available to collect, a great memory of your first diving experience!
