Enjoy a day of sea kayaking around the famous Santorini Lighthouse in Akrotiri. Welcoming adventurers from ages 14 and up!
Santorini is a beautiful Greek island located in the southern Aegean Sea, part of the Cyclades group of islands. Akrotiri is a historical village located on the southern coast of Santorini, most well-known for its archaeological site. It is also home to beautiful black sand beaches and crystal-clear waters.
This sea kayaking excursion begins at the starting point. You can choose to meet at Akrotiri Beach, or be picked up from your accommodation in Santorini. If you want a more personalised tour, you can also choose the private group option. The route is a bit more challenging and is best suited for those with previous paddling experience. Upon arrival, the experienced guide will provide the sea kayaking equipment (kayak, paddle and life vest) and go through a quick safety briefing. Then, the adventure begins!
You’ll launch the kayak from Ballos Beach within the caldera from Akrotiri. The caldera is one of the most defining features of Santorini, contributing to its unique landscape and dramatic scenery. It was formed by a series of volcanic eruptions over thousands of years and offers spectacular views of sheer cliffs, multi-hued volcanic rocks, and the sparkling blue waters of the Aegean Sea. Following the guide, you’ll paddle below Santorini Lighthouse. The lighthouse was built in the 19th century and stands atop a rocky promontory, offering panoramic views of the Aegean Sea and the surrounding landscape.
On the trip, you’ll visit the iconic beaches of southern Santorini, including Mesa Pigadia Beach, White Beach, Kambia Beach, and Red Beach. You’ll stop along the way to admire the stunning scenery, swim in the refreshing waters, and even snorkel below the surface! This area is known for its vibrant marine life, including colourful fish and sea turtles. After discovering secluded caves and coves, you’ll paddle back to the starting point in Akrotiri. The guide will then transfer you to your accommodation in Santorini.
