During your journey to the Cotswolds, the guide will entertain you with interesting stories about the Cotswolds region. Once there, you'll first visit Burford, where you'll have free time to explore the sights and shops of this old village. You will then explore Bibury, a village nicknamed "the most beautiful village in England". You will visit the ancient market town of Stow-on-the-Wold for lunch.
The town of Burford is known as the southern gateway to the Cotswolds. You'll have time to explore the town, including the main street which slopes gently down to the River Windrush, lined with shops on either side, and which hasn't changed much since the 1500s, and Burford's parish church of St John the Baptist, where hundreds of Levellers (a group fighting for equality and democracy) were imprisoned - and some executed - during the English Civil War.
During your guided tour of the Cotswolds, you'll also visit Stow-on-the-Wold, a pretty village with a market town that's the perfect place for lunch. In Stow-on-the-Wold you can explore the Old Church, with its iconic doorway and two trees growing out of the sides. Here you'll find Porch House, 'Britain's oldest pub', once part of Evesham Abbey. There are also many historic sites relating to the Civil War.
