Sainte-Rose, Basse-Terre: What to do when you get there ?

Discover the activities to do in Sainte-Rose! North of Basse-Terre, Sainte-Rose is the starting point for many cruises in the Grand Cul-de-sac Marine Nature Reserve, but not only!

Fully facing the coral reef and islets that close the Grand Cul-de-sac marin nature reserve, Sainte-Rose is one of the best starting points to discover this splendid lagoon with turquoise waters and white sandy bottoms. Between boat rides, sailboat, sea kayak or even stand up paddle, there are many possibilities to visit this magnificent natural reserve where snorkeling is one of the activities not to be missed! The îlet Blanc, the îlet aux oiseaux, the îlet La Biche, the îlets du Carénage and many others will offer you breathtaking landscapes and will allow you to discover a rich and varied fauna, especially in the mangrove.

But walks in the Nature Reserve of Grand Cul-de-sac marin are not the only activities to do in Sainte-Rose! Thrill-seekers can also enjoy the lagoon by kitesurfing, as the conditions are ideal to practice. And for a change from water activities, horseback riding along the northern coast of Basse-Terre or quad biking inland are offered. Otherwise, you can also simply walk or ride a mountain bike, especially at Pointe Allègre, the northernmost point of Guadeloupe, or hike to discover the waterfalls of Bis and Saut des Trois Cornes.

In the north of Sainte-Rose, the beaches of Amandiers, Mambia and Clugny will offer you moments of relaxation and swimming far from the agitation of the beaches of the south of the island, before or after the few possible cultural visits to the village. You will find there the Museum of Rum of Sainte-Rose, in the heart of the Reimonenq Distillery, one of the 9 distilleries of Guadeloupe, as well as the Creole Ecomuseum of Guadeloupe with nice gardens and explanations on the history of the island.

So even if Sainte-Rose is known to be the village not to be missed in Basse-Terre to visit the Grand Cul-de-sac marin natural reserve, don't miss the other activities that can be done there!
