7ème Ciel Kitesurf Saint-Barth
Enguerrand Espinassou started surfing when he was 15 and has been practicing power kiting activities since 1995.
He started kitesurfing in 1996 after hearing someone speak about Manu Bertin who had tried the activity in Hawaii. Once he started there was no looking back, he was definately hooked. A lot of his friends wanted him to teach them how to kitesurf, but at the time he was in the hotel and restaurant business and unfortunately had no time to dedicate to teaching.
In 1999 he eventually gave in and met Bruno Sroka at a competition at Lacanau who encouraged him to participate in a course in Brittany. In 2000 he obtained his FFVL (French Federation) diploma and started to establish himself as an instructor. Enguerrand would spend his summers in the Vendee region and his winters in Martinique.
He eventually chose to settle down in the West Indies, simply because of the amazing teaching conditions and finally opened his very own water sports school in St Barts in 2004.
Enguerrand manages to create a great rapport with his students, many of whom come every year to spend a week kitesurfing at his school. They know Enguerrand only uses top of the range gear which is why the majority don't bother to buy their own equipment.
Enguerrand has participated in many competitions, and even became World Freestyle Champion and French Freestyle Champion, but his heart wasn’t in it. Now Enguerrand Espinassou really enjoys what he does and his students are fantastic. He has even taught many celebrities and politicians who have become friends because of mutual love for water sports.
